Department of Food Science & Biotechnology

About the Department

Due to abrupt social changes including shortage of food resource, natural environment, changes in style of living, and aging society, the concept of eco-friendly, organic, and physiologically functioning food manufacture is actively being adopted in the 21st century in terms of disease prevention, rather than the previous nutrition, safety, and preference in food. In order to satisfy this changing demands, the food industry needs to be more high-tech, and thus our department fosters the professionals who can lead the food biotechnology into the futuristic industry by combining the previous food science with food biotechnology.
In the food biotechnology department, students learn the basic life science and food technology to become the professional leaders of food industry in the 21st century.
