It was the 59th anniversary this year since the department started recruiting on December 3, 1951; the department produced about 2000 alumni, and became a reknown department. In addition, the research study and education were both very successful. Today, in 2010, eleven professors are teaching and advising the students, and actively supporting academic meetings and historic site exploration as student activities. The alumni are working in various parts of the society.
Understanding history is essential to understand the life of human beings and to have proper way to live the life in the future. For this purpose, the department is divided into three parts: Korean History, Eastern History, and Western History. This is to promote systematic understanding of history in detail, and to provide the students the basis to contribute to the development of the society and creation of culture. The department plans to be more competitive by concentrating investment in the local history.
