Department of Food and Nutrition

About the Department

Food and Nutrition Department was established in 1994, meeting the expectation of the nation after the College of Human Ecology was established in 1991. The first class of student graduated in February 1998. From March 1999, Food and Nutrition major in the College of Human Ecology started recruiting students, but it was reformed as Department of Food and Nutrition starting from March 2009.

Food and Nutrition Department contributes to the quality of life and national welfare by meeting the needs and demands of the society; the department produces the professionals who can deliver benefits in terms of improving the health of oneself, of our family, our society, and our nation by understanding ‘food and nutrition’ in the correct way. It is important to pay attention to the functions of each organ in the human body, the chemical, physical, biological characteristics of food, the metabolism and the characteristics of nutrition in the human body, and the eating habits according to types of diseases based on the basic knowledge of biology and chemistry, with the responsibility for the national health in the future.

Professor Sohn Hee Sook (Nutrition), professor Cha Yun Soo (Nutrition biochemistry), professor Kim Sook Bae (Nutrition physiology and education), professor No Jung Ok (Food service management), professor Paik Sang Ho (Functional food molecular biology), professor Jung Hyun Ah (Nutrition analysis) are teaching and fostering students as professionals in Food and Nutrition Department
